Healthy Habits: Dr. Thomas Hunt mixes family time with fitness

Taking care of your health is a priority and nobody knows that more than physicians and healthcare providers.

It can sometimes be difficult to find ways to stay healthy, so we’ve asked members of our Baylor College of Medicine community to share what they do in their daily lives to maintain a healthy lifestyle.  Dr. Thomas Hunt

Dr. Thomas Hunt, chair of orthopedic surgery at Baylor College of Medicine, shares some of his healthy habits with us.

Q: What healthy decisions start your day?
A: Getting a minimum of seven hours of sleep, multivitamins and AM core exercises.

Q: What is your go-to healthy breakfast?
A: Poached eggs on dry toast.

Q: What is your favorite type of exercise?
A: Running and weight lifting.

Q: What keeps you motivated during your workout?
A: The desire to remain active with my young children.

Q: What activities do you do when you can’t fit in a full workout?
A: Core strengthening exercises at home.

Q: What is your favorite healthful snack?
A: Quest chocolate cookie dough bars.

Q: Do you take vitamins and if so, which ones?
A: GNC Mega Men over 50.

Q: What hobbies do you have to help you relax?
A: Watching my kids participate in sports, throwing the football with my kids, walking the dog and playing golf.

Q: Do you use a pedometer or Fitbit and what is your daily step goal?
A: I use a Fitbit and my daily step goal is 10,000.

Q: What is your favorite health tip that you live by?
A: Walk whenever possible.
