Myths and facts about bites and stings
Between kids being out of school and family vacations to the great outdoors, there’s never an easier time to get bit or stung than summer.
It seems inevitable. If you are able to tear the kids away from their Minecraft game, they’ll come back in the house with a few ant bites, or worse. And no one gets out of a camping trip without some sort of sting. But don’t let the fear of bites and stings stop you. Instead, know how best to deal with them.
There’s plenty of misinformation about both prevention and relief from bites and stings (no, bananas don’t attract mosquitoes). Dr. Spencer Greene, director of medical toxicology at Baylor College of Medicine, breaks down some common myths about dealing with critter attacks.
