Healthy Habits: Playing soccer, practicing mindfulness help Dr. Lukasz Kwapisz stay balanced

It can sometimes be difficult to find ways to stay healthy, so we’ve asked members of our Baylor College of Medicine community to share what they do in their daily lives to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Lukasz Kwapisz, assistant professor of medicine-gastroenterology at Baylor, shares some of his healthy habits with us.

Q: What health decisions start your day? 
A: I start my day with a prayer.

Q: What is your go-to healthy breakfast? 
A: A spinach and feta wrap.

Q: What is your favorite type of exercise?
A: Playing soccer.

Q: What keeps you motivated during your workout?
A: Seeing results from consistently working out.

Q: What activities do you do when you can’t fit in a full workout?
A: I go for a quick run.

Q: What have you been doing to stay healthy during COVID-19?
A: I have been exercising five times a week. My best advice is to exercise and practice mindfulness and meditation.

Q: What is your favorite healthful snack?
A: think! Protein Bars.

Q: Do you take vitamins and if so, which ones?
A: I take a multivitamin from Whole Foods.

Q: How do you make an unhealthy recipe healthy?
A: I remove salt and oil.

Q: What is your nighttime skin regimen?
A: Exfoliate and moisturize.

Q: What hobbies do you have to help you relax?
A: Exercise and soccer.

Q: What is your go-to Houston restaurant for a healthy meal?
A: Local Foods.

Q: Do you use an activity tracker or Fitbit and what is your daily step goal?
A: Yes – I have an Apple Watch. I think the goal is 10,000 steps – even if I don’t always reach it.

Q: What is your favorite health tip that you live by?
A: Exercise consistently and routinely.
