Healthy Habits: Gardening, games with family help Dr. Teresia O’Connor relax
It can sometimes be difficult to find ways to stay healthy, so we’ve asked members of our Baylor College of Medicine community to share what they do in their daily lives to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Dr. Teresia O’Connor, associate professor of pediatrics-nutrition at Baylor College of Medicine, shares some of her healthy habits with us.
Q: What is your go-to healthy breakfast?
A: A café latte with skim milk and refrigerated oatmeal with berries or a bagel.
Q: What is your favorite type of exercise?
A: Spinning, biking, running or hiking. Hard to pick!
Q: What keeps you motivated during your workout?
A: The “runner’s high” adrenaline surge.
Q: What activities do you do when you can’t fit in a full workout?
A: A shorter run or a short yoga sequence.
Q: What have you been doing to stay healthy during COVID-19?
A: Trying to continue to prepare healthy meals, avoid snacking while working from home and continuing my regular exercise routine.
Q: What is your favorite healthful snack?
A: A fruit or handful of nuts.
Q: Do you take vitamins and if so, which ones?
A: I prefer to get my vitamins and other nutrients from a varied and healthy diet.
Q: What hobbies do you have to help you relax?
A: Gardening, puzzles and games with the family.
