It can sometimes be difficult to find ways to stay healthy, so we’ve asked members of our Baylor College of Medicine community to share what they do in their daily lives to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Dr. S. Julie-Ann Lloyd, assistant professor of surgery at Baylor, shares some of her healthy habits with us.
Q: What is your go-to healthy breakfast?
A: Bran cereal with 2% milk and fruit.
Q: What is your favorite type of exercise?
A: Cardio, including running and swimming. I also enjoy resistance training. In general, I prefer group activities that allow me to stay in shape and have fun with friends.
Q: What keeps you motivated during your workout?
A: Music! I play my jams during a workout. Plus, I am competitive, so having a companion pushes me harder.
Q: What activities do you do when you can’t fit in a full workout?
A: Take the stairs. Or, if I have enough time, I will do circuit training.
Q: What is your favorite healthful snack?
A: Grapes.
Q: Do you take vitamins and if so, which ones?
A: Yes. A multivitamin.
Q: How do you make an unhealthy recipe healthy?
A: I try to eat less of it.
Q: What hobbies do you have to help you relax?
A: Yoga and reading.
Q: What is your favorite health tip that you live by?
A: Practice self-love, whether that means eating well, exercising, making time for loved ones, or forgiving yourself. You will feel better about yourself and your life, and that goes a long way towards your overall health and happiness.
