Healthy Habits: Dr. Marissa Meissner stays hydrated, enjoys spinning to stay active

Taking care of your health is a priority and nobody knows that more than physicians and healthcare providers.

It can sometimes be difficult to find ways to stay healthy, so we’ve asked members of our Baylor College of Medicine community to share what they do in their daily lives to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Marissa Meissner, assistant professor of medicine-immunology, allergy and rheumatology at Baylor, shares some of her healthy habits with us.

Q: What health decisions start your day?hh-Meissner
A: Drinking a glass of water right after waking up.

Q: What is your go-to healthy breakfast?
A: Oatmeal with strawberries or fruit smoothies.

Q: What is your favorite type of exercise?
A: Spinning.

Q: What is your favorite healthful snack?
A: Apple slices.

Q: What do you include in your child’s lunch?
A: Plain Greek yogurt with sliced fruit for a snack, organic animal crackers, sliced cheese and usually either a turkey sandwich or hot leftovers.

Q: What is your nighttime skin regimen?
A: Removing my makeup every night, washing my face with mixture of castile soap and tea tree oil. I follow up with a witch hazel toner and non-oily moisturizer.

Q: What hobbies do you have to help you relax?
A: Traveling with my husband.

Q: What is your favorite health tip that you live by?
A: Drink lots of water!
