Throwback Thursday: A new era
Thirty-four years ago this month, a new era began at Baylor College of Medicine when the Alkek Fountain and new entryway was dedicated in honor of Albert Alkek, an avid Baylor supporter and contributor. Check out these 1982 photos from Baylor Medicine, courtesy of the Baylor College of Medicine Archives.
On the left, Mr. Alkek switches on the new fountain for the first time. On the right, then President and current Chancellor Emeritus Dr. William T. Butler addresses the ceremony’s guests. The legacy of Alkek lives on through the Albert and Margaret Alkek Foundation, which has contributed to the development of critical clinical programs and research centers here at Baylor.
