National Women’s Health Week is May 11-17, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has a message for women everywhere: Be a well woman.
The first recommendation is for every woman to have regular visits with a health care professional. Women should meet with their health care provider to discuss healthy habits, schedule screenings or exams and set healthy goals. Baylor College of Medicine’s Women’s Center for Comprehensive Care has more information, and appointments are available.
And what are women encouraged to do for the rest of the week?
- Get active.
- Eat healthy.
- Pay attention to mental health, including getting enough sleep and managing stress.
- Avoid unhealthy behaviors such as smoking, texting while driving and not wearing a seatbelt or bicycle helmet.
To make a well-woman appointment, call (713) 798-2616. Appointments are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Baylor Clinic, located at 6620 Main St., Houston, Texas, 77030.
