Throwback Thursday: A break from the books
These Baylor University College of Medicine students June Michaels and Bettye Michaels, with Ed Glayner and Milton Dingler took a break between quizzes to grab a coke, according to the caption in the Baylor University Round Up yearbook from 1944.
This Throwback Thursday we go back in time to 1944. BUCM was in temporary housing in Houston, making its home at an old Sears, Roebuck and Co. warehouse. The College faced many challenges in the new calendar year with World War II restrictions on supplies and construction, and the need to quickly train doctors for the front lines of the ongoing conflict in Europe and Japan.
Despite the challenges, the College settled in to their new home. With the help of the Houston Press and a medical student, the College submitted pictures to the Round Up yearbook, including the one pictured above.
