Healthy Habits: Dr. Thanila De Araujo Macedo enjoys biking

It can sometimes be difficult to find ways to stay healthy, so we’ve asked members of our Baylor College of Medicine community to share what they do in their daily lives to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Thanila De Araujo Macedo, professor in the Department of Radiology, shares some of her healthy habits with us.

A: Exercise and meditation.

Q: What is your go-to healthy breakfast?
A: Yogurt with granola, honey and fruits.

Q: What is your favorite type of exercise?
A: Biking.

Q: What keeps you motivated during your workout?
A: Music that I like.

Q: What activities do you do when you can’t fit in a full workout?
A: Dog walk.

Q: What is your favorite healthful snack?
A: Cashews.

Q: Do you take vitamins and if so, which ones?
A: No. I believe I can get all I need with healthy balanced meals.

Q: What do you include in your child’s lunch?
A: Fruits, vegetables and a sandwich.

Q: How do you make an unhealthy recipe healthy (healthy substitutions)?
A: Substitute honey for sugars.

Q: What is your nighttime skin regimen?
A: Facial soap or cleanser followed by night cream with hydration.

Q: What hobbies do you have to help you relax?
A: Cooking and traveling.

Q: What is your go-to Houston restaurant for a healthy meal?
A: Flowerchild.

Q: What is your favorite health tip that you live by?
A: Find a happy medium.
