February is American Heart Month and Baylor College of Medicine doctors are offering simple actions that you can take today in order to improve your heart health.
Dr. John Farmer, professor of medicine – cardiology at Baylor, says lifestyle changes such as increasing physical activity and maintaining a balanced diet can help reduce your risk of developing cardiovascular disease.
“In some cases, lifestyle changes can help eliminate the need for pharmacologic therapy to treat certain risk factors such as high blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar,” he said.
