Throwback Thursday: Painting the DeBakey portrait
Ever wonder how the large portrait of Dr. Michael E. DeBakey was created? This Throwback Thursday we travel back in time more than three decades to take a peek.
For a look into the creation of the DeBakey portrait, which hangs outside of the Dr. Michael E. DeBakey Library and Museum at Baylor College of Medicine, we found a photo in our archives of DeBakey posing for artist Aaron Shikler. It was printed in the August 1980 issue of Inside Baylor Medicine, a newspaper produced by the college that covered internal news.
