Vote for a new ‘Pear-spective’ on global health

What happens when five Baylor College of Medicine students from Texas, Peru and South Korea decide to collaborate on a global health challenge? They assess the challenge, enter the competition, answer the essay question, and become one of the ten finalists in the Med Plus Advantage Global Health Contest.

Once we were named finalists, we quickly began to work on our video, “A New Pear-spective,” named in honor of Dr. R. Ramachandr Reddy and his famous pear-body lecture.

We are a group of five second-year students who have all benefited deeply from our experiences witnessing medicine abroad. When discussing this competition, we decided to come together to use our entry as a platform to share our individual lessons. Our final product is the fruit of many hours of brainstorming, writing and editing.

The winning video will be selected from the top five most-voted-for videos. The winning team will be awarded a two to three-week trip to Ecuador, Guatemala, or the Dominican Republic and the opportunity to work alongside Timmy Global Health, an organization that provides care to underserved communities.

Please explore our global health ‘pear-spective’ and lend us your vote. Video voting is daily and will end Tuesday, April 11 at 12:15 p.m. CST.

Our hope is to continue our personal growth outside our borders, this time sharing our experiences as a team. You can help us make this happen!
