Researching molecular treatments to promote healthy aging
As we get older, the risk of developing diseases such as Alzheimer’s and cancer significantly increase. Dr. Meng Wang is researching the use of natural compounds to promote healthy aging and longevity.
Her work focuses on aging biology and discovering clues to natural treatments that could allow the human body to age better and improve its health span.
Wang, associate professor in the Huffington Center on Aging and the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine, was recently named the recipient of The Academy of Medicine, Engineering & Science of Texas (TAMEST) 2017 Edith and Peter O’Donnell Award.
Watch her explain why she is focused on identifying genetic and molecular insights into how humans age through her study of worms in this video from TAMEST.
