Healthy Habits: Dr. Magdalena Sanz Cortes starts her day with meditation

It can sometimes be difficult to find ways to stay healthy, so we’ve asked members of our Baylor College of Medicine community to share what they do in their daily lives to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Magdalena Sanz Cortes, associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology, shares some of her healthy habits with us.

Question: What health decisions start your day?

Answer: Minutes of meditation and taking my dog on a walk.

Q: What is your go-to healthy breakfast?

A: Eggs or protein shake.

Q: What is your favorite type of exercise?

A: Hot yoga, spin, reformer Pilates, pickle ball.

Q: What keeps you motivated during your workout?

A: Good/fun music.

Q: What activities do you do when you can’t fit in a full workout?

A: Peloton is always a great alternative.

Q: What is your favorite healthful snack?

A: Cashews.

Q: Do you take vitamins and if so, which ones?

A: Multivitamins, omega 3, vitamin C, colostrum.

Q: What do you include in your child’s lunch?

A: Veggies, fruit, turkey sandwich.

Q: How do you make an unhealthy recipe healthy (healthy substitutions)?

A: Vegan hamburger alternatives and iceberg lettuce leaves instead of bread for hamburger buns.

Q: What is your nighttime skin regimen?

A: Vitamin c, retinol, peptides.

Q: What hobbies do you have to help you relax?

A: Hiking, playing pickleball.

Q: What is your go-to Houston restaurant for a healthy meal?

A: Hamsa.

Q: Do you use an activity tracker or Fitbit and what is your daily step goal?

A: Apple Watch, 10,000 steps.

Q: What is your favorite health tip that you live by?

A: Stay active every day.
