Throwback Thursday: Celebrating women in medicine
From International Women’s Day to various diversity and inclusion initiatives, institutions across the country are highlighting the ways women have persevered through barriers to achieve monumental successes.
These 1973 photos from Inside Baylor Medicine, courtesy of the Baylor College of Medicine Archives, show students have been involved in advancing women in medicine for several decades.
The photo on the left shows students Peggy and Lynn during a clinical rotation at Ben Taub Hospital. On the right, students Carlleen and Nancy look at artwork used to publicize the Women in Medicine conference taking place that year, aimed at informing young women about health science opportunities.
