2013-year-in-review---videoAs the year begins to draw to a close, join us as we look back at some of the most popular videos produced this year.

Match Day

This was the big day: Students around the country and at Baylor College of Medicine participated in the National Resident Matching Program’s Match Day. On Match Day, students find out where their careers go after graduation and where they will complete their residency. Of the 189 fourth-year students participating in the match, 90 are entering primary care residency programs in the fields of family medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine, medicine/pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology or emergency medicine.

Graduation

Graduates of the Medical School and the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, with their friends and families, enjoyed graduation activities on May 21, 2013. Speeches were given by graduate student Christopher McGraw, medical student Faheem Ahmed and by commencement speaker Dr. Harold Varmus.

White Coat Ceremony

188 first-year medical students received their white coats during a special ceremony Friday, Aug. 9 at Bayou City Event Center. This event is a rite of passage for the medical students as they don their coats and take an oath affirming their commitment to the highest standards of ethics and patient care.

Giving Life To Possible

On July 29, Baylor College of Medicine began a brand campaign to highlight its achievements and vision in education, research, healthcare and community service. These commercials focus on the people of Baylor College of Medicine, centering on their hands-on work to push boundaries in unraveling the mysteries of the human body.

A tour of the Michael E. DeBakey Museum

To celebrate the Michael E. DeBakey Library and Museum’s third anniversary, we captured some highlights of the museum in a video tour. The museum features photographs, memorabilia, a recreation of his operating room and samples of DeBakey’s various medical inventions. Let Ruth Sorelle, MPH, chief science writer in the Office of Communications and Marketing and BCM history buff, take you on a personal tour.
