BCM Docappella performs virtual cover of ‘Lean on Me’

Physical distancing due to COVID-19 has transformed the ways we are spending time with one another – and though there is less in-person interaction, it’s important to stay in touch and maintain relationships with loved ones.

BCM Docappella shares this message through a virtual performance of “Lean on Me” by Bill Withers.

“I originally proposed we perform this song because of its message of social connectedness. Physical distancing has taken a toll on many people, so the repeated “call me” in the outro fit all too well,” said Benjamin Solder, a medical student at Baylor College of Medicine and BCM Docappella member who arranged the cover. “We have to remember to check in and care for each other these days, and this song really captures that.”

BCM Docappella is an a cappella group made up of medical students and graduate students in the Texas Medical Center.
