The Sixth Annual Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery Resident Research Day Symposium
June 5-6, 2018
The Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery presents the Annual Resident Research Day Symposium to celebrate the accomplishments of its research program trainees in the field of surgical disease. This year, the Symposium highlighted exciting research projects from the Department’s residents, fellows, staff and students. The 136 abstracts submitted presented work including all the Department’s divisions and all its affiliated hospitals.
The event began with keynote speaker Dr. Rachel R. Kelz from the University of Pennsylvania, presenting, “Defining Metrics for Use in the Assessment of Graduate Medical Education.” Presenters introduced their work either in poster form or orally. At the end of the second day, a panel of guest physician-scientists scored the submitted abstracts and the list of awardees was revealed:
