Image of the Month: C60 fullerene ‘bucky balls’ help deliver pharmacologic agents to cancer cells

Drs. Steven Curley and Stuart Corr in the Electromagnetic Field and Nanomaterials Research Laboratory at Baylor are linking nanoparticles, such as the C60 fullerene bucky ball shown in this image (light purple), to pharmacologic agents (green).  When exposed to low levels of radio frequency fields, drug-loaded bucky balls enhance the delivery and retention of chemotherapeutics into tumors.
