Throwback Thursday: 71 years and counting

For nearly 71 years, Baylor College of Medicine has called Houston home.

This Throwback Thursday we travel back to the 1940s, to explore the transformation of Baylor as we arrived in Houston. At the invitation of the MD Anderson Foundation, the College moved from Dallas to Houston in June 1943 to become part of the newly created Texas Medical Center.

This Saturday will mark 71 years since the College held its first classes in Houston, even if it was in an old Sears Roebuck Warehouse.

In this collage of photos from the 1948 Aesculpaian yearbook, you can see images of our first location in Houston, at Lincoln and Buffalo Drive, more commonly known today as the corner of Montrose Boulevard and Allen Parkway. Additionally, photos of what would become the Cullen Building, which has been our home since 1947.
